Building communities on anti-racist foundations. No prior knowledge is required.
About
Sunday, 08.09.2024, 12:00pm
We humans are part of the structurally racist system that prevails in this world. Consciously or unconsciously, whether we like it or not, we reproduce forms of racism every day and on different levels.
-
Where were the clothes that we wear produced?
-
What does the value chain of our laptops and smartphones look like?
-
Which dances do we perform?
-
What is the social hierarchy in dance spaces and movements?
-
Who is excluded in them?
-
When is it cultural appropriation and when is it cultural appreciation?
-
Who is (hyper-)visible?
This workshop will address "difficult" topics. We will discuss, analyze, reflect and work out how/where/when people consciously and unconsciously reproduce racism and what can be done about it. A theoretical part about the historicity of racism is also part of this workshop. Because the better the understanding of racism, the better the recognition of racism and (possibly) the better the commitment against racism.
No prior knowledge is required to attend and follow this workshop. Though Danielle, our workshop lead, is a native German speaker, the workshop will likely be held mainly in English language.
