BRIDGE THE GAP
Experience a new community-focused dance event in the heart of Zurich from September 6-8, 2024.
WHAT IS BRIDGE THE GAP (BTG)?
Bridge the Gap is an up-and-coming community and dance event in Zurich, Switzerland. It focuses on nurturing spaces that celebrate diversity as well as the rich history, culture, and social context that dances like Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Authentic Jazz have emerged from. It does so by offering activities that center community, individual expression, the protection of the cultural heritage of its offered dances, and the promotion of continuous learning and social equity.
Bridge the Gap invites dancers to explore these themes with curiosity, to get to know the soulful stories behind these dance styles, connect with the history, social movements, and cultural values of the communities they originated from.

THE CONCEPT
Movement + Culture + History
Dance emerges from culture and culture is formed by people and all of it comes with its history. BTG hires (culturally competent) educators who value the culture and history of the dance styles they perform and bring them into their classes, so you can not only walk away with new steps, but a larger context and appreciation for the culture, people, and history they come with.
Progressive Values + Equity + Inclusion
BTG is focused on community building, social awareness, and education and believes that these values strengthen and make communities sustainable. It aims at making this an equitable and inclusive event by offering passes of different price ranges, improving accessibility, hiring diverse educators, providing open-level classes and platforming a range of dance styles.
